From a wild idea to a beautifully wild reality

Tucked away in the heart of Devon’s lush countryside, where ancient trees meet winding rivers and deer tiptoe at dawn, A Lovely Place was born from one simple idea: what if we created a space where people could slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect—with nature, with each other, and with themselves?

We didn’t want just another campsite. We dreamed of something different—somewhere soulful, rooted in the land, and full of charm. And where better than Dartington Estate, a place with a rich history of creativity, sustainability, and community?

So we rolled up our sleeves (and sometimes our trouser legs), pitched a few tents, renovated a couple of quirky lodges, and slowly turned that wild idea into the unique escape it is today.

Why
we do it

Because we believe the best moments happen without screens, traffic, or to-do lists. Whether it’s glamping under the stars, roasting marshmallows by a firepit, wild swimming at sunrise, or spotting a stag through the trees—these are the memories that stay with you.

Every stay helps support local makers, Dartington’s green spaces, and a slower, more mindful way of travelling. We’re proud to keep things small, special, and sustainable.
